Let's Do Lunch

This boy can eat.

This tastes better than it looks, really.
Currently, his favorites are Shepherd's Pie and Fish 'n Chips. I'd like to say it's a cultural influence derived from watching the Olympics lately but the truth is - it's pub food.

Pubs are Sunnyside's version of a family restaurant. Sorry but, Denny's is not food.

Anyway, our first "Samu-less" day, I decided to first take Zuki to a comic bookstore in Midtown, appropriately named Midtown Comics. Since he loves X Men, Avengers and Batman - he should want to read them in their original creative form, right?

Not exactly. That's what actors and movies are for. Who wants to read a storyboard when one could simply watch it? And were it not for Iron Man, who else would've had the strength to revive Robert Downey Jr.'s career - Sherlock Holmes?

So the comic bookstore as a boost for reading interest - was a Fail. More importantly, the kid was hungry.

Since Midtown Manhattan's lunch fare consists of pre-made crappy sushi, overstuffed sandwiches on soggy bread or chopped leaves with grass labeled as salad for about ten bucks per person, we headed back to our own neighborhood where lunch is...food.

Mangal Turkish restaurant makes killer falafels for $4.50. I LOVE falafels. Apparently, so does my lunch date.

    1. The more food looks like garbage, the more they love it.

  2. Yay for hanging out with him while his brother is gone. Since Noah has no siblings (from me) I ignore him. It's what he's used to.

    1. Well, if getting yelled at is considered attention, then I think Zuki would rather be ignored.

  3. Zuki needs to teach Lily how to eat. The girl hasn't consumed a decent-size meal in...well...never.
I'm secretly in love with Robert Downey, Jr. Don't tell my husband.

    1. Zuki could get Victoria Beckham to eat, I'd bet! And Robert Downey Jr. really has that bad playboy look down, doesn't he? Luckily, your husband doesn't read my blog.

  5. Good you are spending time together. Too bad the whole reading thing did not turn out so well.

    1. I have to confess, getting him to read comics was really my ulterior motive. I'm a closet Manga fan.

  6. I love falafel. But looking at Zuki's face in that photo...probably not as much as him :)

    1. Argggh! You gotta try one. I'd consider it the vegetable staple of my diet - that's how good it is.
